Be A Tairis Orphan! Institute & Orphanage Goals Founders' Ideals Proposed  Curriculum Enroll in the Institute! Meet the Orphans People and Places of Sahde The Elven Arts

Headmistress' Statement:

"For too long the lives of orphans havebeen wracked with poverty, strife, and misfortune due to the simple fact that they lack family.  No more!  Though they have suffered, they still deserve the opportunities that other, wanted children recieve.  We wish to house and educate these poor wretched creatures, and and give them the chance to become respectable, upstanding citizens."
- Tairis Riachspain, 27 April 606.

Purpose:

To take the underprivledged orphans of Sahde and provide them with a safe and nurturing environment where they may learn the skills necessary to make a living and become upstanding citizens.

We aim to provide a good home and education for the orphans of Tustor and Hobbleton, as well as other abandoned youth in Sahde.  If space is available, we will also accept orphans from the surrounding lands and baronies.

"But my intention is very far from being confined to provide only for the children... it is of a much greater extent,"
-Jonathan Swift

By educating and civilizing the young orphans, we hope to not only help the poor wretched souls, but also improve Sahde and the Sutherlands as a whole.

Cirriculum:

Each orphan will recieve a thorough education in the History of Sahde and the Sutherlands, as well as in elven literature, art, and music.  Reading and writing is strongly encouraged.  The children will also have the chance to choose their own additional curriculum, be it in magic, fighting, alchemy, or otherwise.  Generalist educations will be available onsite, and those wishing to specialize will be found tutors, or apprenticeships will be arranged when they come of age.

Standards:

The Institute will abide by and respect all standing laws as decreed by the Baron of Sahde.

Living Conditions:

Each orphan shall have a spacious, clean, and pleasant living area - dorms will be two to a room, organized by race, age, and personality, in that order.  If they so choose, orphans may opt to room with or adjacent to siblings or surviving blood-relations who are also attending the Institute.  Orphans will have free access to spacious play-rooms, study-halls,  the dining room, and the surrounding outdoor property of the Institute.
